This weather is weird. Warmer this morning than when I went to bed by about 14 degrees.

• Concert industry posts record year despite economy Nothing beats the energy of live music.
• Texas extends Medicaid coverage to children in southeast Texas It's past time to stop pretending that we do not already have socialized medicine. That way, perhaps we can get it right.
• Clinton moves to widen role of State Dept. Heh, it's going to be interesting watching the power struggles in the new administration.

Had a wonderful evening. SU and I celebrated our #27 at the remote w/LB and his girl. Good fun and good friends. How do you beat that?

• Haggard says he still struggles with sexuality I find myself more puzzled about the issue of homosexuality every day it seems. Reading this makes me sad and confused.
• Kennedy Takes A Beating From Upstate Media Mark Levin played a clip of her on his show last night. She sounded like Paris Hilton. I can't believe that she is going to be given a seat in the U.S. Senate just because she was born a Kennedy.
• Study: Young people watch less TV Interesting. Makes sense though that younger people are spending more time with interactive media.
• W. Mark Felt, Watergate Deep Throat, Dies I'll never forget this weird teacher I had in high school who was obsessed with this. I forget what we were supposed to be learning but all we did, every day, was listen to this guy as he outlined various connections between people on the blackboard. Very strange man. Maybe he should have met Ted Haggard.

• Huffman takes Senate Dist. 17 seat in runoff Very low turnout, if you voted, your vote counted for 10 other people. Hard to believe that only six women are in the Senate.
• With strikes, China's middle class vents anger So much for outlawing unions. Face it, when workers unite, entire systems of governance change.
• Gov. David Paterson unveils dire New York State budget that includes new taxes, layoffs and cuts 88 new taxes? Yeah, let's shoot the wounded. What will he do when he sees his budget get worse because of this? I like this quote: "The governor is nickel-and-diming working class families," Note to governor: read China story above.
• Michael Williams: The first Senate race is for Gov. Perry’s attention This guy is the real deal. I hope Republicans unite behind him and are able to keep two Republican senators.
• Merge black, white colleges? Plan stirs outrage Heh, this guy stepped in it. He's right on the issue, obviously, but some people will never accept that blacks and whites should be equal. Most especially, the black 'leaders' that would lose their power base.
