After viewing video of Arizona Pastor Steven L. Anderson being brutalized by the Arizona State Troopers, I had to find out just where the Texas version of roadblocking innocent citizens stands. My original report is here.
The bill was sent over to the House on April 1st (isn't that appropriate?), read and assigned to the Criminal Jurisprudence committee, where it remains at this point. I'm hopeful that the chair of that committee, Rep. Pete Gallego (D-74) will not allow a vote and let it die. But if he does allow this monstrocity of a bill to come up for a vote, it would be a good time for freshman Rep. Allen Fletcher (R-130) to stand up for the rights of Texans and vote to kill this thing once and for all.
As a reminder, here is the list of Senators that voted for and against this bill. Texas voters need to take a hard look at that list and ask themselves if the Senators on the Hall of Shame deserve their vote. Freedom of movement is a fundamental right that we cannot give up without a fight.
